Increases
Announced for March 15, 2010
March 1, 2010
New Brighton, MN --
Al Bucher, President of Lakeville Motor Express, issued the
following open letter to Lakeville Motor Express customers announcing
rate increases to be effective March 15, 2010.
March 1, 2010
Dear Valued Customer,
Thank you for allowing Lakeville Motor Express to be your transportation provider. Your continued loyalty and support make it possible for us to accomplish our mission of providing both value and quality service to you and your customers. We sincerely appreciate your business.
Over the past year, we have made great strides to expand our service capabilities to better serve you, while at the same time, controlling escalating operating costs. We have gained efficiencies thru technology, operating improvements, and productivity gains.
However, the past year has also seen significant increases in the cost of doing business that are not related to normal operating upgrades. Some escalating costs we are able to absorb while others, such as insurance, are simply beyond our control. Labor and benefit related costs have increased, in part due to a severe nationwide shortage of qualified drivers.
In order for us to provide the high quality of service required in today’s transportation market, we must increase our rates. Effective March 15, 2010 Lakeville Motor Express will take an approximate 4.9% general rate increase. This increase will apply to all of our tariffs, including our discount tariffs and commodity rate tariffs.
As everyone is well aware, fuel costs remain volatile. Under the circumstances, Lakeville has determined that the only equitable approach in handling the fluctuating fuel prices is to continue the existing fuel surcharge program. This fuel surcharge will be reduced or cancelled when the price of fuel declines in accordance with our fuel surcharge table.
Thank you for your business and continued support.
Sincerely,
Al
Bucher

Lakeville
Motor Express Under New Ownership
December 21, 2009
New Brighton,
MN – Lakeville Motor Express, Inc., a long time leader in the
Minnesota and Upper Midwest transportation community, has been sold to
Roger D. Wilsey Sr and Shari K. Taylor Wilsey. Mr. Wilsey, who joined
the company in 2001, was LME’s vice president of administration and
corporate compliance. Roger will assume the position of chief
executive officer.
Lakeville Motor Express, or LME as it is commonly known from the large
letters displayed on its equipment, has been owned and operated by the
Wren family for 88 years. Founded in Lakeville, MN in 1921, LME has
grown from a one truck operation serving local farming communities to
a 10-state, 34 terminal, Upper Midwest less-than truckload (LTL),
truckload and supply chain freight services company. LME also provides
seamless, North American freight services, with a single source of
accountability, through The Reliance Network alliance.
Departing CEO John Wren, in a letter to employees, commented that
“through the hard work and dedication of all of our past and present
employees, LME stands as a true success story in the history pages of
the LTL trucking industry.”
The incoming owners are no strangers to the Midwest motor carrier
community. The Wilsey family owned and operated Indianhead Truck Lines
for over 65 years until it ceased operations in 1997.

April, 2009 |
New Brighton, MN – Randall-Reilly Publishing's Commercial
Carrier Journal (CCJ) recently presented Lakeville Motor
Express with its 5th annual Innovator of the Year Award. This
award recognizes carriers for innovative management practices
including operational efficiency, use of information technology,
customer relations, maintenance practices, recruitment or retention
and safety.
Lakeville Motor Express received the award for its leadership in
"the development of a bold transportation network".
On March 1, 2008, LME joined with five other LTL carriers to form The
Reliance Network. This unique arrangement allows each of the
individual carriers to provide seamless nationwide and international
LTL, truckload and supply chain freight services. In addition to
extremely competitive service standards, The Reliance Network offers
customers advanced information technology, including end-to-end
shipment visibility, unparalleled operational flexibility and
standardized administrative processes.
LME's CEO John Wren commented on the award: "We're really honored
by this recognition. Our customers are able to expand their reach
through the Network and the Network's operational flexibility and IT
advantages alone make us tough competitors. Of course, when you're
able to prove the concept by providing good service then everyone
starts to take notice."
Accepting the award this past February on behalf of Lakeville Motor
Express was our president, Pete Martin. [Pete retired this past March
after 45 years serving our industry.] CCJ's Innovator of the
Year program is sponsored by PeopleNet, Castrol and J.J. Keller.

Lakeville
Motor Express
Announces Chicago Area Expansion
March 2, 2009
CHICAGO, IL – Lakeville Motor Express has
announced the addition of a second Chicago area terminal service
center.
Customers in the Chicago market will now be served by two, full
service LTL distribution terminal facilities. Northern tier cities
will be served by the newly opened 65-door facility located in 11201
Irving Park Road in Franklin Park. Southern tier customers will be
served out of a modernized 60 door location at 7526 South State Road
in Burbank. Both terminals are equipped with the most current
information technology to ensure complete shipment visibility and
efficient operations.
Lakeville has teamed up with fellow Reliance Network provider Averitt
Express, to conduct joint operations out of the two Chicago area
facilities. Averitt is providing local pickup and delivery services
for Lakeville out of both terminal locations, with each company
maintaining separate linehaul, sales and customer service functions.
"An additional terminal in Chicago gives us more operational
flexibility and allows us to put more trucks on the street. Customers
– especially those in the outlying areas – will notice a definite
service improvement since we will not have as much stem time from our
terminals,” said Al Bucher, Executive Vice President of Lakeville.
Bucher went on to comment further on teaming up with Averitt in the
Chicago market. “It’s a fantastic use of operational resources. Since
we were already serving many of the same customers, both of us will be
more productive” noted Bucher. “This is a testimony to each company’s
commitment to The Reliance Network. Not only does this expanded
Chicago operation further strengthen the Network’s seamless service
concept but it just might be the model for joint operations in other
markets as well.”
Lakeville Motor Express, with 34 terminals in 10 Midwestern states,
has been serving northern Illinois and Chicago since 1989.
Founded in 1921, family-owned Lakeville Motor
